The Croatian Government Office for Co-operation with NGOs in co-operation with the Council for Civil Society Development issued a call for consultation on the Draft of the Code of Good Practice for Consultations with Interested Public on Making of Public Policy. ECNL supported local partners in development of the Code.

Between 25-27 June 2008, ECNL organizes a conference on CSO-government relations in Tbilisi, Georgia. The goal of the conference is to strengthen CSO/Government relations through increased capacity of local stakeholders and to help improve the legal and policy framework that affects this relationship.

ECNL supported Dr. Natasha Gaber-Damjanovska, Macedonian expert in CSO legislation, to develop a study of the Macedonian legal framework and practices concerning participation of citizens and CSOs in policy and decision making process.

ICNL and the World Movement for Democracy are pleased to announce the release of a “Defending Civil Society” report, the first phase of the Defending Civil Society international campaign to promote the adoption of internationally-recognized principles that protect civil society. During the report’s drafting, five regional consultations were held in Morocco, Peru, Ukraine, Thailand and South Africa.

On April 25, 2008 the DG Justice, Freedom and Security organized a meeting on non-profit sector transparency, where the "Study Assessing the Extent of Abuse of NPOs for Financial Criminal Purposes at EU level" was presented.
